King Trisong Detsen was a Tibetan Dharma King in the 8th century. He invited Padmasambhava, Shantaraksita, and other great teachers and scholars of Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism to Tibet. These great teachers established Buddhism in Tibet. A monastery was founded, several Tibetans were initiated as monks, and a vast translation project was undertaken rendering Buddhist scriptures from Sanskrit into Tibetan.
